I set my valves when the engine is warm so to speak, when the cylinder head temperature is LESS than 100 deg. About room temp. Metal expands under intense heat, therefore your clearences will be a few thousanths different than if it were cold. .008" for the Intake side and .010" for the Exhaust side.

thats wat i just set it tooo.. i did it by the book.. to where .009 was rly snug or wouldnt go in... and so on for exhaust.... .011
but i still have alota valve train noise.. grrrr .. i originally did this to see if i could get rid of a slight tickint noise.. whihc i thought was a light valve tap... well now i got a hella lot of valve train noise... light the rockers are ticking... i wish i could let u guys listen to it.. but using a recorder still wouldnt do it justice... im just concerned... i would rather rebuild the head.. instead of the complete engine.. ya kno... but im not gonna rebuild head... if it doesnt need it.. bc the noise could be something entirely else...
its just mine boggeling rite now... btw ur red s2000 is ****ing sick!!!

Keep in mind these are solid lifters and will never be as quiet at hydraulic lifters.

If you have a lot more noise after doing the lash adjustment, then you probably didn't get the clearances right. Did you have a written procedure to follow? Helm's manual? This isn't the easiest job to do for a beginning wrench turner.
