Default vibration in cold

Hi guys,

Just wanted to know if what im experiencing with my AP1 is normal and due to the extreme cold here in the northeast. My daily driver shit the bed, so ive had no choice to use my S this winter. Its been super cold here, and started to dip back into the mid 20's today.

I noticed that when its very cold, maybe 25 degrees or less the car vibrates at high speeds, like from 65 mph and up. Cant tell if its the rear end as I feel it in the floorboards too. Feels like the entire car vibrates. When the weather is warmer, the car doesn't seem to vibrate at all. I understand that metals expand and contract when the temps change, and that's what I feel is going on with the car.

Does anyone else experience this too??

Possibly flat spots, there's no ice or snow in your wheels right?

I DD all year long as long as there isn't more than 2" of snow and there shouldn't be any vibrations with cold. You'll get some with flat spots but they'll go away as the tires warm up to operating temp. Also if it's really cold the shocks will feel stiffer but again change as they warm up.

Yeah the tires and wheels are clear of debris. It was doing it today on the way home around 5 PM. The car just vibrates and sometimes it goes away. The tires are very low on tread and due for replacement but I don't know of any flat spots on them. What I cant figure out is when it was warmer this week, in the 40's the car was fine.. and I first noticed the vibration in the late fall when it got cold.

Its important to note, I do have aftermarket diff mounts, they are a bit stiffer than stock ( 75a ) . maybe that's what it is?? Also when Billman replaced my blown diff we decided to swap the CV buckets just as preventative maintenance because I know they tend to wear after a while and the body of this car has 117K.

With great temperature swings make sure your tire pressure is where it should be. If you only drive the car in the summer 35 psi in 90 degree weather could feel like driving on flat tires in 25 degree weather.

Ill def check the tire pressure tomorrow. Now that you mention it the car does at times feel as if its on deflated tires when its super cold. Im thinking its just the record low temps affecting drivability.
