Default vibration/wirring noise - help

Hi,

I have a 2001 model.

Recently, when I *lift off the throttle* the cockpit fills up with a wirring/vibration noise.

This only happens when I am in gear and *lift off the throttle* and I am doing decent revs.

I have heard that *gearbox bearings* sometimes make noises on earlier models (which mine is) - does this sound like noisy gearbox bearings?

If so - what can I do to fix it and is ultimately worth it?

The most common deceleration noise that aflicts MY 2000 & 2001 cars is related to the clutch disc. The noise was most apparent in my first car when decelerating past 4k RPM. Apparently the springs in the disc assembly would become loose and make noise upon deceleration while in gear. There was a TSB issued for this complaint. The first generation of replacement discs didn't work wery well, but the latest generation are better.

I've never heard of a problem with gearbox bearings.

Depending on how many miles you have on the car, and how much this bothers you, it may or may not be worth the effort of replacing the clutch.

Yea, sounds like the clutch disk springs rattling. If so, it's harmless, so unless it bugs you there is no need to be concerned. If it does get on your nerves a replacement disk should quiet things down.
