How are they making that 1.5" bend? They just cutting and welding? Or, are they actually able to bend a 3.5" pipe that tight?
They ended up bunding the 3.4" tube on the tightest radius they had, then welding another "top and botton" section to the front to make the sharp bend flow smooth. All in all the tube us three pieces now made into one.
I think you guys are obscessive
The air filter that came with the vortech sc is extremely good in my book
When I had my car tuned, we took the airfilter off and studied the difference. You only gain 0.5kw with the filer off. I doubt that you will gain much with a larger air filter.
Save the money for AEM, smaller pulley and bigger injectors
Here's a comparison shot of the Vortech supplied filter and a KN drop in for the stock airbox. given the fact the engine is pulling in more air than originally designed, reducing the size of the filter is not a good idea. No FI engine likes intake restriction, a undersized air filter surely can create one. Besides, isn't bigger always better?

When you had the filter off I assume the Vortec air box was not connected as well? If so, that's not as much as I would have expected.
we disconnected the 90 degree plastic bend
it's quite good to see the sc blade spin too
Here's some pics of the 350Z Vortech filter. It does not come with a fitting for the breather hose, but there is enough room to put a fitting there. I have included a comparison with the original Vortech supplied filter. I have not decided which one to use, but I am leaning towards the 350Z filter, I think i can build a better airbox around it.
