That looks good but I dont think the engine will like the new hotter air

I got a feeling that this may impair performance in hot weather.

If I use the 350Z filter, I can build an aluminium guide behind the radiator that seals off air to the filter. All of these filters are trade offs, I'll think about 'em for little while and build what suits me. Maybe I'll take a few different filters with me the next time I get to a dyno.

No FI engine likes intake restriction, a undersized air filter surely can create one.

Size will matter when it starts to get dirty. A small filter will degrade much quicker than a large one.

Agreed, I would rather have more filtering area than less

I just received the 350Z filter also. I think at the moment I'm going to stick with the stock as I like the cooler air location as I like that tradeoff. At least until I decide to build a box and something like a CAI pipe to a cool location.

I had my filter for one year and I checked it and it was clean so unless you drive trough the mud or track your car a large filter is not needed.

[Vortech noob]

Will the hotter air be that big of a deal with the aftercooler?

I can tell you my IAT (intake air temp) #'s with the 1023 fiter where in the 120 deg. range, on a 40deg. night.
I'm not cetain what IAT has been on the stock Vortech airbox.

What kind of driving where you doing with that IAT? Was that track, around town, lot's of WOT, etc?

I think I typically see about 120 and I'm still using the Vortech air box. I wanted to get things tuned with that, and then compare changes afterwards.

Also, what source did you use for the IAT calibration tables in your EMS?
