Vortech S/C - defective computer box exchange.
The only distinguishing mark my bad box has on it is a white sticker with "FTC - 003".
The 8/1 invoice for this first replacement says nothing about a version,
just TIMING CONTRL BOX part# 5A001-051.
Anyone have an FTC-004?

efi system pms should work with the s2000; it works with all other OBDII honda ECUs. it can control timing and fueling (in case you have larger injectors, especially) based on rpm throttle, and boost, without disabling or removing the stock computer. all other functions (eps, immobilizer, etc) should be unaffected.
i have one on my supercharged prelude, and it works great. never threw a code related to it, the atts unit (a kind of active computer controlled differential) works as always, no immobilizer issues, no need to disable a ton of things like some other standalones.
no cutting of your wiring required - they sell a harness which your stock inputs plug in to, and the ecu plugs into the other side; the pms is spliced from the middle.

It would be nice if I could dispense with their electronics and go with some standard programmable setup. Too bad there's no Unichip with a plug and play harness for the S2000 like there is for the WRX. The Vortech spliced in black box seems to be junk, and you can't tweak the program if it runs lean (though the box has a serial port, who knows what software you need to access it).

PS - Vortech said they don't have any new (um, new new) timing control boxes in yet.
