VTEC not working... sometimes
Yeah it works good i just haven't been able to drive it very much lately so i wasn't sure. I guess the oil just takes longer to thin out than the engine reaching op temperatures. Thanks for the replies.
Oil takes twice as long to warm up over coolant. That's what you need to keep in mind.

I've run into a similar issue with my first S2K (purchased earlier this fall). I live in Minneapolis and have been taking advantage of the occasional sunny, 40-something degree days since they haven't started salting the roads yet. Only happened once, it was after a long day at work and I was being impatient (I'm sorry, Honda gods!!). That same night I actually cracked my soft top window folding it down in the cold. I guess I'm learning the hard way to be careful with this car when it's cold out... In all seriousness, though, do these cars actually prevent you from revving past 7k if it's not warm enough? It was a little unnerving revving up to 7k and then just losing power all of a sudden. Just want to make sure it's not something else. It's a new engine (not NEW, but new to the car), so I'm a little paranoid about post-swap issues. The engine's an AP2, the car's a 2001.

^ The S2000 motor can't read oil temps, so it has to be based on some temperature of coolant , so some temp between 3 & 4 bars , whatever the exact temp it is. It is probably listed in the shop manual somewhere.
