Default Vtec Solenoid

I was changing my oil the other day first time on the s2k... the dealership used one of the pos oil filters which they over tightened so i used a large wrench to loosen the filter and when i broke the seal i managed to snap off the sensor located on the Vtec solenoid. I called my local honda dealership and ordered the sensor, for the time being i decided to superglue the sensor together ( it was a clean break and held up for the time being) the car started fine no cel but the following day the cel came on, no vtec, and started to bog at idle. any reason for this? i went ahead and ordered the whole vtec solenoid just incase. I just don't know why the bogging would occur? any help on this would be a great help. Thanks

"any reason for this?" - yeah, your sensor snapped off and is now being held together by superglue. The connection probably isnt that "secure" - thus the CEL.

I would avoid driving it until the new part arrives.

No more comment from me. I don't wish to add more insult to injury.

It's not actually a sensor is it? Just a solenoid. So if it's oil tight and you can make the electrical connection all should be good until you get the replacement.

Chaces are he actually broke the oil pressure switch, not the entire solenoid. As soon as a P1259 is stored, you get a low RPM rev limit until it's cleared and stays away.

Actually there are two electrical components there. We don't know exactly which one he's talking about. The one is the VTEC oil pressure switch and the other is the VTEC solenoid valve circuit. They aren't really "sensors" as such but if the either circuit is broken or doesn't get the right feedback, a CEL will be thrown. This most likely causes some funky engine characteristics.

Oops, timed with Slow. Listen to what he says.
