Default Vtec Solenoid Problem

Hi Guys help needed,
My CEL keeps coming on with the Error Code 1259, after doing some searching I believe it has something to do with my Vtec Solenoid.

After doing some searches, I have found this suggestion
Remove the VTEC solenoid from the block (three bolts), remove the gasket (15825-PCX-015, FILTER ASSY., SPOOL VALVE), clean it or replace it. I have opted for the latter and ordered a new one. .

I have noticed that there has been some oil leakage (not a lot) around the VTec Solenoid housing where it connects to the Block could that be a broken gasket?

Is there anything else I should try?

Many thanks

I removed mine cleaned it, iit wasn't the problem but it wasn't hard to do either.

you should have it scanned while driving to see if it is working properly

he means use a scan tool. it lets you check engine codes and look at sensor data, among other things. really good for diagnosing electrical problems and such.

i have a CEL Code Reader hence the P1259 code which i pulled. So will change the filter / Gasket and run it, and see if an error pops up.
