Right. Hollowed-out original cat is exactly the same as the test-pipe. Only difference is it has OEM fit and quality. Looks kinda ugly compared to a beautiful test-pipe, but how many girlfriends yo gonna impress with that? Bend them over to show them the TP? Sorry, getting kinda wrong.

Thanks kirpich!!!! I have a better understand now !

I that test-pipe looks better and i am not sure that no gals will see it unless i run them over hehe... i am just interested in removing the CEL and getting the performance because right now i feel that i am losing power driving with the CAT without honeycomb or is it in my head only?

Next weekend is track day and ordering 2 spark plug anti-foulers and O2 sensor wont arrived in time, will it be alright to taking my car to race with CEL ? some one told me that the engine will be running open loop mode, what does this mean? and what is the effect in performance? faster or slower? will it possibly cause more damage? if so i will no not but i wanna take my baby compete for more trophy!

thanks

I'm not sure, but there is a possibility that the car is always in 'open-loop' mode, because of the CEL related to O2, meaning that it is just dumping fuel in, making you run rich (safe), but lose power.

Anyone? Does this make sense?

There's no damage, just black smoke, slight loss of power up top, and worse gas mileage. Oh, and carbon build up, but my tuner said that it doesn't hurt the engine, because it just gets spit out.

As fas as I know: CEL (any kind) always imply "open loop"

(I might be wrong.. but it's safer to think this way)
