unless youre over 36k miles(from the looks of those bolts, you're not) it covored under warranty. take it in and have some free coffee.

The car is extremely loud, but sluggish; the car isn't really responsive when I apply the gas.

It is a 2005 with almost 30k miles, so yes, it's still under warranty.

dnelson1627 made a good point; it probably won't be a simple re-weld as I initially thought considering the thinness of that pipe.

Anyway, I called my local dealer and I'm scheduled to bring in the car on Monday. The initial thoughts are that the repair work would be under warranty but cannot guarantee until they inspect it.

Exhaust shops cut out the stock resonator and weld in a straight pipe for around $45 from what numerous members have reported. I'm sure you could get that rewelded for $20 max. It would take an exhaust shop about 5 minutes to do.

*edit* Just read your last post, and this will be covered under warranty since it is an obvous defect and it doesn't appear you bottomed the car on anything. I'm sure they'll weld it up and send you on your way (try and work them for a new catback though...might as well give it a shot).

 

If you could find me a tig welder I could do it for you.

 

they HAVE TO replace it with a new part. welding that back up is the equivalent of the dealer stiching a patch over a hole in your softtop.

under california state law, all new vehicle(doesn't matter honda or toyota) manufacter have to give consumer 8 years /80k mile, whichever comes first, emission warranty, however honda has life time warranty on their muffler.

i agree! take the exhaust off and go to a machine shop and have it TIG welded. that'd be your best bet if the stealership will not replace it. although you will pay a little more than a muffler shop but it will be of better quality if TIG welded.
