My S2000 already has way more torque than I need. Come on over and I'll give you some of mine.

Bigger rims will supply more torque relative to the ground; mabey some 18"s. (force) x (lever arm) = torque!

Prolene started this thread almost two years ago which fully discusses performance advantages and disadvantages of larger rim.

Have a look. It is truly an S2Ki classic.

Also, read this link http://www.grassrootsmotorsports.com/ and go to tech topics and then go to plus size tires and read about a real comparison of 14" 15" 16" and 17" rims on a hot Civic EX.

By they way, they come out in favor of plus sizing for handling but not for acceleration.

Before you run out and buy a gear set, keep in mind that this will increase your RPM at all speeds. I find the S2000 is already reving pretty high at my normal highway cruise speeds and I, for one, wouldn't want it any higher. That being said, the gears are probably the easiest way to get the increase you are probably seeking.

I agree with some of the people who have made what might seem to be a wise a$$ comment: Trade the car. It wasn't designed to be a torque monster and the easiest way to get that kind of car is to buy one properly set up by the factory right out of the box. The S2000 two litre motor is already producing quite a bit of torque for its displacement. Actually, I am wondering, does anybody know of a naturally aspirated production street 2 litre that makes more torque?

Anyway, my point is it is not a good starting point if your are seeking a lot of low end tire smoking grunt.

Actually, the RX-8 produces a tiny bit more torque with 1.3L displacement...

Rotary engine dude. Expect to replace head gasket every 18 months if you drive hard and every 6 months if you track it.

Isn't the RX-8 turbo anyway? Or am I confusing that with the Rx-7?

We'll just have to adjust our claim, highest specific output of any normally aspirated PISTON engine in production.
