Ok, so i bought an 01 about a week and a half ago. today i was just checkin everything out with it. I jacked it up and rolled under it and found a part that was wedged into a little spot.

It bolts in on the lowest front corner of the head on the passenger side. It gets bolted in with two bolts and goes in with two gasket o-rings to seal it off. it also has two bolts holding a cover plate on the end of it.

the car has a brand new one on it. well at least it looks new. ha

Does anyone know what this is off hand?

timing chain tensioner sounds similar to your description. They fail on a regular basis on this car so it wouldn't be odd to have a new one.
