Default SOS Tensioner Screw Stuck

Hey FI crew,

Was in the process of swapping in a new belt today (original belt I purchased ended up stretching more than expected) on my SOS kit and as I began adjusting the tensionsing screw after popping in the new belt, I was getting a lot of resistance (screw was spinning freely just prior to that). I tried going in the opposite direction, same issue. Got to the point where I couldn't get the bolt to budge even with full force.

At first, I thought the bolt threads were the culprit but no issues there. Ended up pulling the blower/bracket and removing the tensioner assembly. Threads are fine. It's actually the head of the tensioner screw that appears to be the issue. Pics below. Has anyone ever seen this happen? I'm stumped on what would cause this. Any insight is appreciated.

Golly! Lol. Looks like some kind of corrosion or electrical weld of some sort. If something got jammed in there I wouldn't expect to see pitting.

It looks to be a contamination or lubrication issue (I noticed the it appears to not have any lubrication on it). We supply anti-seize paste with the kit. You may want to try to polish this out (both on the bolt's shaft and the housing's bore). If you are still having problems, we sell these parts separately from the kit - just drop us a line.

This happened to me as well. Mill the bolt down a few thousandths. Polish the brick, and call it a day. Or, as SOS said just call them for replacements.

Happened to me as well after 4 years/22k miles. I ended buying a replacement.

Hey everyone. Thanks for the replies. I was able to polish the housing with a polishing bit and all is working now.
