what is wrong with my s2k?
I just my S2k on Wednesday. I bought it used through a Honda dealership so its certified. Now last night, after not driving the car for about 4 or 5 hours, I started it and drove off. WHen I got onto a main road and got on it, at about 6500 rpms, the car bogged down, almost as if I let off the gas completely. I slowed it down, then it was fine, and I tried getting on it again, and this didn't happen. This mourning on my way to work, everything was fine, then, after working for like 3 or 4 hours, I went to the bank, and it happend again when I first left. On the way back, it didn't do this at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Any insight will be greatly appreicated. Thanx for your time.
Make sure you're showing 3 bars on the temp guage before revving into vtec land. In all honesty, waiting another 5 min. or so after reaching 3 bars would be ideal. I believe VTECing before 3 bars results in fuel cut.

not this again...some people just don't understand cars. even if it wasn't a s2000, you shouldn't be revving the car that high during the first couple of minutes of operation. common sense people!
just think of the friction created by 9000 revolutions per a minute. no piece of machinery is capable of that without proper temperatures and proper lubrication. be smart with your vehicle; it's not a small investment. give it a good 10 mins, more than 15, before you try to test what it can do. you're only shortening the life of your car if you're not.
and yes, the rev limiter kicks in at 6000rpms when it's not up to 3 bars (and i think the '04 equivalent is 7 bars). but don't think just cuz you can at 3 bars that you should. it still not running at optimum temperature at that point.
and what razor said. people! think! this should be a non-issue if you know your car and use common sense when you drive, and if you don't, i feel for you.

oh. and most importantly, welcome to the club, sz2000.
we're usually more gentle and kind than the above might show, but some of us who hang around here a lot see a lot of the same stuff like what you posted. it can get a little frustrating because we love the S and hate to see any pain come to any of our cousins.
