2000 rpms at takeoff will bog my motor too, I just went out and tried it. The clutch will hook up and the car will move but until the rpms climb into the 3k range you get horrible acceleration. At low speed there is a lot of hot air in your intake and under the hood.

hey xviper, he posted this thread because he had NO idea what could be doing it? It could be him, his car, or enviorment. Thus the reason we other drivers post "mine too" situations because maybe what we did to fix it is what will fix his? Nobody wants to get into a "shit" fight here, no need to be unlpeasant.

This isn't really a rare problem with all car's. Your S is 5 years old and has (relatively, high miles). It could be nothing wrong as some people are suggesting or it could be dirty throttle body/IAC. The fact it won't idle right with the AC on suggests some issue with the IAC since this is the device that changes the idle with different engine loads.

If it was me, I'd get the best injector cleaner I could find and use it at recommended intervals. Then I'd get the throttle body and IAC cleaned.

Many car's can run like crap and not get a CEL. CEL's say nothing about drivability, they basically just mean all the sensors happens to be within tolerances and the ECU's able to keep the emissions in check.

i agree with xviper, it's the environment, not the car. here in florida, it's 95 dgrees everyday. my S hates it. especially if you run it for a time, stop for 20 minutes, then start it up again. all that heat! it does seem to command more gas pedal, especially when backing up. and it shutters with the a/c on. but if i treat it very nicely, no revving or blipping the throttle, it calms down and drives great, just takes a little time to adjust.
