Default Wheel bearing question

I recently replaced rear bearings and hubs and was really surprised at the great improvement in handling. Even though there was no noticeable play, just noise, the replacement made a huge improvement... others have said this and I thought most of it was justifying the repair, but I was wrong, there is a real change driving.

So my question is what have people seen with replacement of the front bearings? Do the front bearings and hubs have similar wear issues as the rear and will replacement result in noticeable improvements? I hate to spend the time and money but sure am open to another good surprise.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I replaced my fronts recently because they were getting very noisy. I didn't notice any difference in handling but it is now MUCH quieter.

You can actually perform the axle nut tsb on the front also.

It only becomes important when you start tracking on r-comps, at least the ones I have seen. My track car customers destroyed the front hubs just like the back.

I did mine long ago, currently have 130k on all original bearings. And I track regularly on 275s.

Nut torque is the number one determining factor in regards to bearing life.

Sorry to jack this.
Billman,

I tightened the axle nuts as shown in dwight's DIY. I remember reading it was for the rears only, are you saying it is acceptable to do on the fronts as well? Any harm in doing it (even if not necessary)?

Thanks,
Zach

Just a report back. I did replace the front bearings and hubs last month and it does make a noticeable difference... not as dramatic as the rear but a clear improvement. The car tracks better, especially on uneven surfaces, has more precise turn-in, and better control in high speed turns.

Just curious but where did you buy the replacement bearings and hubs?

To make it easy I got them from Majestic but I think you can save a little by just getting the OEM hubs and finding an equivalent quality bearing.
