Is the drivetrain failure still a problem with AP2? In addition to CDV, I thought Honda strengthened the differential on AP2.

Any AP2 owners have drivetrain problems due to hard launches?

So you are a proponent of keeping the CDV? I've driven an 06 with CDV in place and it was awkard with the slight slippage during upshifts.

step up to a nice clutch, youll be amazed at how well the car does. both on launch and fast shifts.

If you're NOT launching, you're going to get wasted by cars like 350z and crap like that. Not launching and getting times like 14.5+ in the S is why people think the car is so slow.

A new diff is 600 bucks - it's not that bad.

I know they're made for track autox and road racing, but that doesn't mean i won't drag it too... I've been through alot of drivetrain issues with my delsol, so it won't be anything new to me now. I'd say the sweet spot in an ap1 is 6k-6500 depending on if you are at the track or on the street. I just be sure to keep it in vtec, cause it will bog bad if it drops out. I can't wait to get a good clutch now though, mines slipping terribly...

Differen't strokes for differen't folks

I dun't launch my S2k from the hole. I typically race from a rolling start, 15-20 mph. If I wanted a drag car, I'da bought a Chevy with a 327 or a 350 or some shit. The S2000 is a rice burner, but it aint no drag car.

AP1 S2k, could you please tell me what it sounded like after it happened. Something just happened to my S about a week ago and it thought I broke a tooth. When I rev it just sounds like a bolt in a blender and it falls out of gear in 6th gear once ever 5 miles when I drove it home.

It sounds like the you took a few bolts and a pile of overheated axle grease and dump them into an industrial blender at 50k rpms!!!!!!!

I just fixed it though.

If your problem only happens in sixth gear then its most likely not your axle or diff. That sounds like you might have destroyed part of your sixth gear. The same thing happened to my borther's STI and he lost fourth completely.

With my Falken Azenis 255/40/17 i have 2 launch at 8000rpm not bog down and just about keep her in vtec. Well my car's at the dealer now, tranny and diff needs to be replaced. It was fun while it lasted tho
I borrowed my friends Avon Tech R's on 16 inch Slip streams and put them in the rear. To get a good burn out I had to dump the clutch at 8000 rpms. To get a good launch i had to let go at 7000 rpms. It worked! I was able to out launch a 350 AWHP STI but then he ate me alive
