Default Wierd rattle

Went to see a AP1 2001 S2000.

Everything is perfect about it, the hood, service history (full Honda) low mileage etc.

However there is a wierd ass rattle coming from it.

When the hood was down the rattle was constant. when up it was intermittent.

When driving it completely goes away. On moving off from a standstill it comes and goes.

To me it sounds like a heatshield or something rattling, however with the hood down it got me thinking why it was constantly there.

Can anyone shed any light as if its nothing major, I will be purchasing it very soon.

Thanks

Likely Timing chain tensioner. post a sound clip.

Very common, cheap easy fix.

Seen a few videos of the TCT rattle.

Didnt sound like that to me, sounded like a heatshield kind of rattle.

But when the hood was down the rattle was constantly there.

Anything that's loose will rattle.

Heat shield should be easy to diagnose.

check the heat shield on the right side of the engine (might have not been tightened if Original owner had a header and changed it back to stock.

Also, try check the spark plug cover. The bolts on mine came loose and it would make funny noises as it rattled
