Default Windshield Problem

Hi All,

Got myself a Spa Yellow stook in June and I've been lurking ever since. (Very friendly bunch of people BTW) Anyways I had to get my windshield replaced this morning due to an errant rock and now I can't lock my car using the remote. Everything else works though (trunk and unlocking). I was wondering if there was any related wiring running around/near the windshield that may have been cut?

Thanks

Welcome to the club/board...

But boy, that's a weird one. The only thing that I can think of is that if they removed the driver's seat to get a better angle to take the windshield out that they didn't plug one of the 3 (if I recall correctly) wiring harnesses that are under that seat.

I replaced a windshield in one of my cars before and I just leaned back in the middle of the car and pushed it out with my legs/feet. So I can't imagine this car would be any different. So I don't know why they would take the driver's seat out. I guess I'm just thinking out loud...

BTW, I got hit by a rock, as well and now have a lovely 8 inch crack right down the middle of the windshield. Who did you use to replace it? Are you satisfied?

I'm still thinking...will post if I think of anything else!

I would have to guess coincidence but unrelated...

I also got a rock-crack, had Safelight replace my windshield. They did a good job, but 10 days afterwords, ANOTHER ROCK!

Fortunately, only a small star low down, but what a bummer!

Thanks for the welcome Greg....

I was actually watching the guy as he replaced it. He used a bunch of tools (all with sharp blades) to slice aggresively through the gasket between the windshield and the car...which got me wondering if he has sliced through anything. BTW I used Safelite auto glass (800)835-2557. Assuming that my keyless entry problem is not related...they did a pretty good job.

I would bet on it being unrelated. Regardless, you should take it in for warranty work. I have read the windshield replacement procedure in the shop manual and it did seem to be more complicated that simply glueing a new one in.
