which cai is better comptech or aem as far as their hp gains and their sound compared to stock?
also is there a noticeable response/suction difference between them?

AEM is good.
Even after FI, I still miss the rumble with my old AEM intake.
The sound was just so unbelievably sweeet

Comptech is noticeably louder and without the fear of hydrolock. Some may think this is a small risk but I live in very wet Ohio, not Phoenix. I also think it looks much better than a big pipe running to under the front bumper.

Well let's see I have the AEM with bypass valve. I am not sure you will be able to feel any HP gain but the car runs better and the stock exhaust twangy sound is gone. I know a bunch of folks change their mufflers and CAT-back just to change the high pitched exhaust sound of a stock S2k, just to have a cool sound. I have not considered that change due to the fact all the dyno runs on CAT back exhausts show maybe 1 HP gain over stock. Not a good choice for bang for $$$. I think you will like what your S sounds like after the CAI is installed....

I have heard that the bypass valve causes turbulance that lessen the HP gain... Is that the reason I didn't feel any real HP gain???

My car was aldready tuned with a VAFC when I took the ABV off at a dyno day to see the difference. I have not used it since eventhough it is winter overhere
Here is the result

The better dyno result was gained by just simply removing the airbypass valve.

Consider the PRM.....my car dyno'd at 212 w/PRM intake and lightweight pulleys (lightweight pulleys may add, at most 2hp).

No fear of hydrolock and sounds wicked! Can also be purchased in the s2ki store!

I like the Comptech because it fills the void that left after you take out the original intake. Has nice carbon fiber. But the Aem one would probably get more air in the car.
