After a one-nite stop with Kathy's nursing school roommate in Ocala, we'll arrive in Fort Myers Beach for about 5 days. After a $$$ one-nite stop in a cute beachfront cottage on Sanibel Island, we'll hunker down with my sister-in-law near Tampa. The trip northward at the end of Feb is not yet written, but will include some stops in GA and SC.
Jerry, you are staying in a THREE $$$ cottage? Are you guys wild and crazy? What happened to staying at the Motel 6? Did they turn off the light?

I still stay at Motel 6 when on a road trip, Lainey....works fine for a quick sleep with limited amenities. Most would be surprised that they have been redecorated and are fine; clean and good bed/ pillows. Try one sometime and then let me know

Since I wrote a few days ago, we have also booked a cute place in Savannah....right in the historic area. Have never been to Savannah and looking forward to it. Then we'll be staying two nights with church friends on Kiawah Island and will celebrate my birthday there

We've stayed in this B&B a few times, back when I had the airplane and traveled with other flying couples: https://www.oldeharbourinn.com/maps-and-directions.htm

^ Very nice place to spend a birthday. Would love to go back to Kiawah. Have a drink at The Sanctuary. Definitely not Motel 6. Savannah is very nice to visit, too. We stayed at the Gastonian, a lovely B&B. The walking tour is interesting. We try to do a walking tour wherever we go.

We have stayed in a Motel 6, Jerry, somewhere in NJ. Walls were like cardboard, towels like paper towels and we had to be "buzzed" into the lobby. Nope, I'll spend the extra $ and stay elsewhere.

Enjoy your trip. I hear Savannah is lovely. Happy Birthday.

Thanks Gene, but Kathy already found a cute "tiny house" cottage that's in one of the neighborhoods. We're reserved here for 2 nights:

Thanks for the tip on The Sanctuary! The guy from our host couple is a just-retired big firm attorney, so he probably knows the Kiawah watering holes They have had a weekend house there for several years, but now are trying a month or two at a time.

There are a couple of restaurants at The Sanctuary, and some at the various golf resorts. Really lovely area with lots of live oak trees and Spanish moss.
