Default abbreviations

It seems that we are increasingly being bombarded with abbreviations for everything- from physical conditions to business to medications and company names. I don't mind admitting that it drives me crazy.Even doing the morning crossword is sometimes maddening. Are we on our way to becoming a society that will no longer be able to carry on an intelligent conversation? Am I alone in my frustrations?

Acronyms, abbreviations, "text speak" the whole bit. I think "text speak" in an email annoys me the most.

Does it bother u 2? Come on and hit a few more keys.

Since the world is going to end in 2012, perhaps using all these acronyms, abbreviations and text speak are to save valuable time, time which can then be wasted on Face Book and Twitter.

I'm sure you guys know this, but if you need to polish your skills for communicating to your teenager:

http://www.lingo2wor...in+the+left+box

You can go to Lingo2word, type in your message in regular spelling, and it will translate it into textspeak;
or
it will translate a short version into regular long text.

u cn go 2 Lingo2word, typ n yr msg nregular sp, n it wl transl8 it N2 textspeak; or it wl transl8 a short verzN N2 regular lngtxt.

The only abbreviations that bug me are the ones Vintage members use in their posts. I have no idea what some of them mean. I've finally remember FWIW and IMHO (for what it's worth and in my humble opinion) but lately I've seen some new ones.
