I like it also, but I find the new Honda MTF works just as well. I have GMFM in the Healey. It shifts well, but tends to leak. Other Healey owners tell me that any synthetic leaks out while the dino oils tend not to. Or at least leak out much slower. I was wondering if Honda MTF might work better in the Healey. The Healey takes straight 30 weight.

Dave,
your links are excellent. It almost makes me want to try it myself. I think I could handle flushing and bleeding the system. However, I looked through receipts last night and found that the transmission fluid has not been replaced in 50,000 miles, (I know, I know, serves me right) so I am going to take the S in and have the CMC flushed, and the tranny oil changed at the same time.

This whole thread has been very informative. Thanks to everybody.
Morris, I can understand. As I get even older, my desire to crawl around and under my cars lessens with each passing year. ...
I finally decided I won't crawl in the garage anymore. I either sell of the S, or have the work done -- which I don't really iike. So -- I am buying one of these for one half of my garage:

It will make general maintenance and also prepping the car for the track -- swapping brake rotors and pads, exhaust, etc. much much easier on an old guy who is not getting any younger.

Why not a two post lift? They are much more versatile for working on the car.

Yeah but I need to be able to store my tire/toolbox trailer on the upper rung when I am not using the lift otherwise. The city does not allow me to leave the trailer outside the garage on the driveway.

Morris, I don't know if you have already taken care of the problem or were actually going through with the CMC replacement but if you don't want to use the dealerships outrageous $$ services you can check the local performance shops in your area, they do these kinds of things for a good price but find a good one. Example; I live in Orlando and CFT (Central Florida Turbo) has some of the best s2000 tuners, they do these basic jobs at very low hourly rates. I like the tuner shops because most of the people work there because they love building/working on cars and some places will let you stand in the shop and watch. This is just a suggestion but definitely a better option than going to a Firestone or something like that (never go to a Firestone!)

Your fellow owners are correct. I too, have tried modern stuff in the trans and it went through so fast I could not afford it. I still leak some, even with dino oils, but I added catch plates to get the worst of it - I just accept the fact that it happens, so deal with it.

Harry, I didn't see you at SF after we met on Thursday. I know you were waiting for a phone call. Did you have to leave unexpectedly?

Harry had a medical emergency (pacemaker) and made a quick trip home.

Harry! I hope you are OK. Sorry I didn't get to chat with you.

Dave - think about making the 10th anniversay Vintage meet next May 17-19, probably in Winchester, VA.

Harry went on the practice drive with us Friday. He said then that the rough roads jostled the leads of his pacemaker, causing his heart to act up. I don't blame him for wanting to get that taken care of.

Glad he is OK now.

I am considering it. It's a very long drive but it's still a year away, so I'll have to see.
