Another new Honda
About a month ago, my 20 year old daughter came to us and said she wanted a car for her birthday. Our original thought was to get her a base Fit, so we went looking and found none. Every Honda dealer was saying they had none, but might get one in a few days but it was all ready sold. So we decided that she could have our 05 Element, which meant that my wife would need a car since she primarily used th eElement.
After much rumination, we decided to look closely at the Toyota RAV-4, Honda CRV, another Element, or as a wild hare, a used Acura MDX.
We culled it down to a CRV or an Element, and went to the Honda dealer that sold us the Element (and does all the work on our S). We looked at the Element, and the CRV. Then we looked at a Pilot (oops - I didn't fit) and then looked at the Odyssey. We were looking closely at the Odyssey, when the older salesmen said to the younger salesman not to forget to put the Fit up.
After remarking that we had tried to find a Fit for our daughter, but couldn't, the salesman said we could take a look, as it won't be here long. As a matter of fact, it was sold, but the people's credit rating was not good enough to get financing, so it's still here - just came off the truck on Wednesday.
We looked at it, we drove it, we bought it. It is an 09 Fit sports model in blue pearl. On the way home from the dealer (about an hour away), my wife said that it was getting over 40 mpg on the freeway.
The salesman said this was the first time ever for him that someone had been seriously considering one of the largest cars that Honda makes (the Odyssey) and end up buying the smallest car that Honda makes (for the US market).

Congrats.
Our dealer was a little confused back in '03 when we took a 2001 Acura CL Type S in to be traded for an Insight. It worked out for the best.
