And 99 times out of 100 it's people who never drive their car or when they do it is just to get ice cream. Anyone who does minimal maintenance and drives them as much as possible seldom has issues. My recent break down was the first since 2017 when a Pertronix electronic distributor failed due to using a coil that didn't put out high enough voltage. Prior to that it was 2011 when a generator failed. I suspect I have put more miles on this MG that I bought in 2005 then you have logged in your Japanese sports car since you bought it.

With all the spray cans on your friend's shelves it went to a good home.

Maybe so, but after owning 3 MGs, a Triumph TR6 and 2 Fiat X-1/9s you could never convince me about the virtues of British (or European) cars. I absolutely loved my MGB and I still think the TD is one of the most classic sports cars I've ever seen but given my druthers, I'd rather own a Japanese sports car any day.

My S2000 is 21 years old with 44,000 miles. The only maintenance it's ever gotten is oil changes, transmission and diff oil changes, new brakes and tires (no mechanic has ever touched it, my son and I have done all the maintenance) and it starts every morning and gets me home every night. I can't say the same about any of the British cars I've owned. I love British cars but my Japanese car is my favorite.

Rob, good to read you've put that many miles on it. I've logged 38k in 18 years. I was averaging 5k a year until COVID and ankle surgery. I've logged 2k so far this year and plan to double that before the snow hits.

Of course nothing beats Japanese reliability. For me it started way, way back in 1972 with a Toyota Corona, ‘77 Celica, ‘83 Accord, ‘90 Integra, ‘90 Nissan Maxima (best ever), wife’s ‘98 Subaru Outback, ‘01 S2000, wife’s ‘01 Outback, ‘08 Outback and her current ‘18 Honda CR-V.

Dave, I saw a red MG-A with a hardtop on the other morning. Looked in very good condition, he (I think) was around Stonewall @ Horton Rd.

A friend said he saw a blue one leaving Jerry's on Tuesday. Guess they are popular again. We have had several new members join the club over the past two years.

I saw a totally cherry AH3000 going down the road. I thought it was a kit car till I got up next to it. All original inside and out. Someone spent some major bucks on restoration.
It's in the neighborhood I'm sure I'll find him again.

It's not a glove compartment. It's a dog bone compartment!

Well to keep the story going I tested the generator on the car and it barely pulled 1 volt at 1500 rpms when it should be between 1.5 and 3.0 volts so the armature is bad, or at least the brushes. Removing it from the car wasn't fun but after a long struggle it is out! It was a hellva lot easier 12 years ago. But at least I can still do it. There is one lower bolt that is a bitch to get at!!!
