Barb has been working a quilt for our son who's in Seattle.
Jon likes turtles. so that is the theme.
Right now I think she probably has 300-400 hours into it.
By the time she is done I would not be surprised if it isn't a thousand hours.
This is all her design. She wants to get it done by Christmas this year. ocean background front appliques
I have a quilt that I inherited from my mom. It is ~6'x8'.
The largest piece of fabric is a 1"x1" square. It is entirely hand sewn.
It dates from the mid-late 1800's.
I'd like to see a picture of your quilt. We have a couple. Quilters are always creative with both technique and materials. Quilts reflect an era.
We have one my Mother did out of old mens ties. It's very heavy. Another was done by my sister in law copying a sunrise. She also makes quilts for Alzheimer's patients. Her quilts are very tactile and have various things made on top of them as the sense of feeling various things calms patients when it's on their lap. She donates these.
The weather gods have sent the message summer is over. Cold crappy weather for the next two weeks. It's time to think about my inside hobbies. I haven't picked up a paint brush in over a year. Following off a ladder in my art room had a lot to do with that last winter.
I grew up loving comic books and that style of art. I never knew how they did it before computer programs, and still don't, but I did find this video on how it is done with Adobe Illustrator which I found interesting and more difficult than I thought. I'm sure it's easy once you know the process steps. I think I'll try going back to a brush for now.
