Tens of thousands but I'm pretty sure both of those guys live at least a couple of hundred miles away. All well with them hopefully.

The quake is a long way from here, three quarters of the way to Oregon. I didn’t know about it until I watched the news. Affected us no more than it affected you Val, but thank you for checking in.

Mice don't last long if they get into the house with the cats and I try to just ignore the moles.

I don't see the foxes, rabbits, deer, skunks, ducks, coyotes, etc. tearing up my stuff much other than dens and borrows. The ducks just waddle around looking for bugs and then go back to one of the neighbors ponds.

Living in the woods can be great but it can also be a challenge and add extra work.

No electrical substations on the property, though. Just the transformer for the house.
I have screens over my attic vents and squirrels have never come into my attic. Squirrels used to eat from my feeders but their antics were so hilarious I settled for just putting baffles on the feeder poles. As to the raccoons they occasionally robbed my bird feeders, but not enough to make me want to kill them. Some of them were so darned cute, I just watched as they emptied the feeders using those precious opposable thumbs. I've had woodpeckers drum in the spring on my gutters (so far none ever attacked my house). It was annoying for them to drum early in the morning and wake up the entire neighborhood, so I hung windsocks on the end of the gutters which scared them away. I too had quite the learning experience when I moved into the woods years ago, but I came to the realization that I am the one who is invading their homes, so I tried to find work arounds so that we all can live in peace. It never occurred to me to kill any of them although I've had neighbors who sat out on their porches with guns shooting squirrels. Sadly wounded squirrels would crawl over into my yard with shattered legs, etc. and ultimately die. It was horrible.
If woodpeckers are drumming on your siding in the spring time, they're trying to call out for a mate. They're frightened of anything shiny blowing over their drumming area, so windsocks work well as to cd discs.
