I use a Bodum Santos electric vacuum coffee maker. It is supposed to be one of the most "pure" brew methods. I grind my own beans, using a mix of freshly roasted beans from Fairway market, whatever is on sale, plus Eight O'Clock 100% Columbian. Makes a great, fairly inexpensive cup. Try it, you'll like it.

That Malabar Gold sounds real good. I don't recall seeing it at my local Peets coffee outlet. Where do you get it?
Up to now, I like Peet's Espresso beans and their Sumatra dark roast.
Anybody else have a favorite coffee for their super automatic?

One last cup ...
I used to think coffee was originally from the Americas, but no -- coffee originated in Ethiopia...
Among the manylegends that have developed concerning the origin of coffee, one of the most popular account is that of Kaldi,an Abyssinian goatherd, who lived around AD 850. One day he observed his goats behaving in abnormally exuberant manner, skipping, rearing on their hindlegs and bleating loudly. He noticed they were eating the bright red berries that grew on the green bushes nearby. Kaldi tried a few himself, and soon felt a novel sense of elation ...
Ha ha, one of the funniest of the profane cantatas that JS Bach wrote is the Coffee Cantata. The father scolds his daughter because of her coffee drinking, but she persists ...

Wow, this is an old thread! My dad was alive and living in his home, not in Assisted Living, and not in the Dementia Unit.
I also see that my s2ki photos are up. I wonder if I can get to them again.
I've been buying Starbucks Columbian beans, grinding a few days worth and using that in my daily coffee with a Mr. Coffee drip. I quit using my pollutant of Baileys and Kahlua because of the calories. Now I add half & half and fake sugar.

I still have about 4 bottles of Baileys in the cupboard. I bought them on sale at Costco before I decided the calories were making me fat. I'm with you on the coffee in the morning. I don't wake up until the first cup and get alive on the second.

I drink one cup of coffee in the morning. I've been using French Press for the past few years. I buy my beans from Costco and grind it every morning.
