Decorating mistakes
You guys make me feel guilty. Our house has not been re-done or repainted for more than 20 years. I don't like the wallpaper in the hallways, kitchen, bathrooms or dining room, but +1 does, so what the heck. I'm not totally into decorating so whatever. I'm more into cars, books, and just plain comfort. If I'm comfortable and the surroundings are fairly neat and the bathrooms and kitchen are clean, I'm A-ok. We were chatting today and decided that mayyyyyybe next year we'll think about re-doing some of the space. However, we want to be GONE while its being done.
+1 may decide to manage the projects, but you can bet on my being GONE during the process.

Generally speaking our rooms have been updated every 10-12 years or so. Some sooner, others later. I've only done one room that I practically hated from the day it was finished. I lived with it for a while, 6-7 years then I re-did it again.
I hope to get the yellow color right with the next coat of paint in the guest room as I don't want to hate it for the next 6-7 years.
I'm with John now, as far as wallpaper goes. The only room left with the wallpaper will be the living room. It's relatively recent and looks fine. I still think wallpaper gives the room a warmer feel than paint, but I don't want to deal with it anymore. The next time that room is re-done wallpaper is not coming back.
My house has wallpaper in the downstairs bathroom. I like it. Otherwise it's pretty much the same color paint through out the house. It should be boring but it calms me. Kinda of a warm slighty dark beige.
I went through a house down the street that's been for sale for months. They had some wall paper in the masterbedroom that looked like rock. I had to touch it to see if the whole wall was stone. I would love to have that in my house, some where.

Patty, sounds like you like textured kind of "stuff."

Yellow is one of those impossible colors. It all has to do with lighting and that changes hourly

I kind of knew that, but figured oh well............
If he can tone it down, I think it will be OK. Once furniture is back in place, and other things are in the room, it "should" be fine.
The most frequent "guest" in the guest room is our granddaughter. She likes bright colors.
