I just renewed my license here in Ohio a few weeks ago.

I got the federally compliant license and brought in all of the required documentation. I brought extra just to make sure I had enough documentation! It is a bit of trouble making sure to get all of the required documentation, but worth it in the end.

I am amazed at how long you can renew your license for in some states.

I am also amazed that many states do not even require a vision test!

In Ontario at age 80 you require an eye test, review of your driving record, a session in the classroom and a couple of written tests. If you fail the tests a road test is also required. We have two retired Police officers on our street and they have had a couple of seniors licences removed due to bizarre driving/parking issues such as backing out of the garage without opening the garage door. The reason was the driver had pressed the door opener, but it did not work! Another stopped in the middle of the street to take a leak but the car was in drive!

Aggressive you say. The other day the guy next to us was in the turn lane and decided to go straight. I was with someone I shall not name in an S2000 who took exception to this and decided to give the car some extra acceleration. I'm sure it was only to get clear of the offending non turning vehicle The guy in the minivan didn't like this and was responding in kind. I don't know why since he was in the wrong lane. At the next light while behind us middle finger of mini van driver was raised. I was not happy when my driver returned the salute. I was not happy about the whole deal ; however that teenager I was with...,,,........

Too crazy a world to be giving salutes IMHO. Donna was following me this morning in her car when a guy cut me off so close - it was only inches. She wanted to know why I didn't blow the horn or salute him...... I did raise one arm out of old habits..... but the world is full of crazy people in cars.
