In a shocking turn of events, I am happy to report that Fox News actually reported something responsibly.

Get a flu shot.

Why in god's name was she allowed to travel much less leave her house? Do these people in Dallas have their head so far up their ass that they don't recognize the potential danger? This is how a pandemic starts.......

Yup, there is little chance that Northern Ohio will have to deal with ebola
Apparently she was in contact with the CDC all that time and they told her it was OK to fly.

The fact that the CDC told her it was OK to fly with a temp is a bit unnerving. I also heard that the airline was informed that she may have been symptomatic during the flight. Nice job by the CDC.

Whistleblower Nurse was on the AM news today.

I agree Lainey. If this is the country's plan for dealing with highly contagious diseases, then it is a pretty bad one. But I'm getting the sense there really is no plan, just a make-it-up-as-we-go-along approach. I have no tolerance for the "keep calm and carry on" message we keep getting. We are not two year olds and as far as I can see, everyone is keeping calm and carrying on. If that is all we can expect from our government, I can replace them all with a t-shirt.

I can't really say much more without making this political. I'm not blaming any party or particular person, but every further thought I have about this implicates and criticizes the government and raises some social issues that would probably dump the whole thing in the politics subforum.

So why is this not considered a political statement if my comment that Snopes was garbage and my post gets sent to the delete farm?
Because I have not made any statement regarding politics. My statement is regarding irresponsible journalism, sensationalism, and fear mongering on the part of the media. That you think I'm making a political statement is more of an indication of what you wish to see than the reality of what was written. I studied journalism and spent a few years as a writer for newspapers. I have an interest in seeing good reporting, not TMZ style, Hollywood-esque sensationalism.

Didn't the CDC Director say something to the effect of "you can't get Ebola by sitting next to a person with Ebola on a bus, but if you have Ebola, don't take a bus because you can transmit the disease?"

I have no information about the above-mentioned comment and can not say if the director of the CDC did or did not make those statements; however, I don't find it confusing even if he did. 1) No, you can't get ebola by sitting next to a person with ebola. 2) If a person who is infected with ebola becomes ill (for instance, vomits, has a bout of diarrhea) while on a bus, then yes the virus can be transmitted to someone who comes in contact with the mess. If a person with symptoms of ebola were to experience an injury (like a cut or severe abrasion) and were to bleed while on a bus, the person needing to clean up the blood could conceivably be infected if they don't take proper precautions.

It's not actually that confusing.

I reminds me of Stephen Kings novel The Stand in which a superflu that gets loose, in Texas, wipes out 98% of the population.

I got a flu shot last week. I don't know when or if Ebola will reach the 'hood' but the chances are good the flu will.
