So, technically, removing a sticker that says "evolution is not fact" is removing evolution theory from attack. Lord knows we should not take that theory off the pedestal, add to it, turn it upside down and see what's underneath...

...was it wrong to say "Lord knows"?

Valentine,

Evolution generally refers to any process of change over time; in the context of the life sciences, evolution is a change in the genetic makeup of a group - a population of interbreeding individuals within a species. Since the emergence of modern genetics in the 1940s, evolution has been defined more specifically as a change in the frequency of alleles from one generation to the next.

I am not the smartest person on this or any other thread. The evolution of the human species has always intrigued me so I read a lot about it. (and I'm trying to figure out how God did it)

Nope, for a scientific hypothesis/theory to be attacked it must be proven wrong by using the scientific method. Folks can't have it both ways, it's either science or it ain't. Creationism is a religion-based belief, not a testable fact. Those stickers also cater to the beliefs of a minority, which the rest of us should not be compelled to entertain. The Supreme Court, the Pope, and the U.S. Constitution all agree with me, so I'm in good company.

It's not wrong at all. Lord knows I use it enough myself.

Dean,

I won't be proving/disproving any Creationism theories for quite a while--and when I know for sure, I'll have to jump over the the "Ghost" thread to notify you.

And if your avatar is representative of your age, well then you'll be finding out before me!

I coud have used one of those sickers in my high school Algebra II/Trigonometry book. I could have argued that I believed there was no such things as tangent/co-tangent sine/co-sine and not have had to try to figure out how to get to them.

Maybe the skinhead Aryan Nation types can get one on the history texts proclaiming the Holocaust might not have happeend and the flat earth people get to show how the moon landings were faked.

You do just fine. If you want to figure out how God did it, take a look at the Theistic and Deistic Evolution schools of thought. However, they both propose the Intelligent Design hypothesis which has nothing to do with creationism. Creationism is a belief held by some fundamentalist Christian sects and is restricted almost entirely to here in the U.S.. Most of the mainstream religions worldwide subscribe to either Theistic or Deistic Evolution, or some variation thereof.
If it makes you feel any better science can't figure out how it was done either, nor does it have any hard facts to disprove Intelligent Design. Then again, proponents of ID don't have any hard facts to prove it either.

I appreciate that, but I don't need you, or me, to die to know that the book of Genesis isn't literally true.

I think there should be stickers in textbooks that say "If your F--- Up this text book, you are going to pay for it. I don't care where we came from. I care about how we are going to pay for being here!!! Kids don't give a spit about their text books.
