another thought pooped into my head as I was rereading this.
Manufacturers hate media attention for bad things.
When you talk to corporate ask if you should go to the local TV stations for help getting traction on this.

Still no answer as to why the engine seized.

They pulled the car back into the shop yesterday afternoon, and found metal shavings in the oil pan. Duh... if you found metal shavings on the dipstick and magnetic oil drain plug, what did you think you would find in the oil pan?

So, today, they will be dropping the engine and starting to tear it apart looking for the cause.

Said they hopefully will have an answer today.

so how does an engine lock up after 1400 miles? Have you checked the oil during this time?

Just got a call from the service manager at Hyundai....

Said they had everyone's approval to order the new engine and get it installed.

The motor would have all the bolt on's so no swapping out of parts would take place.

Said there was bearing particles and block pieces in the oil pan!

If everything goes right... new motor could be in Weds... and car ready most likely early the following week.

It may take a little longer to get the motor, as I have asked to speak with the GM and the district Hyundai rep. regarding the issues that I have.

my guess would be oil pump experienced catastrophic failure followed in rapid succession by catastrophic engine failure.
Oil pressure indicator usually means pull over and replace engine.
