Fun with Comcast
Words cannot begin to describe how much I despise those people. I had DirecTV and I wanted to hook up a TV in the Florida room. DTv was going to charge me $50 for a box, which I had no problem with, but they also told me that purchasing the box would initiate a two year contract with them. I said no thanks and got one of the online "deals" from Comcast that didn't require a contract.
First of all, the tech shows up and says he has no work order for dropping a line in the Florida room. Not off to a very auspicious start. But I tell him it's no problem, just make a cable for me and I'll drop it myself.
So, I leave him to his work of installing 4 HD receivers and one HD-DVR, and go about my business. He leaves after about three hours. I look the equipment over and it's used, scratched, and dirty. Dust and animal hair all over the things. To top it off, the equipment is outdated - no HDMI ports on the HD boxes to hook up to my new LED TVs. So, he had to jury rig them to hook them up and just left my HDMI cables dangling loose from the backs of the TVs.
Long story short, I've been fighting with these bastards on the phone and online for the last three and a half hours. The tech called me and told me, "All of our equipment is used." and "There are no HD boxes with HDMI ports". Of course, the corporate office says something completely different. The tech is returning to "resolve [my] issues", supposedly.
Hopefully, he won't get here before I can finish digging the hole in the backyard.

Sorry to hear that. I suspect you got a really bad 'contract' employee. All my boxes were new and the HD-DVR definitely has HDMI ports. My experience has been the total opposite of yours. In fact, the last service call I had, the guy took it upon himself to replace the entire service drop to the house. I wonder if different franchise areas get different service?
If I could get by with just rabbit ears on the TV I would. I HATE writing that check to Comcast every month, but any other outfit available to us is no better.
Fun and Comcast are two words that don't belong in the same sentence.
Need help digging the hole?

Comcast is the absolute worst freakin' company I have ever done business with. Ever. My cable box died a few years back and they came to replace it and at the time it wasn't a high def box but they replaced it with a high def box which I hadn't asked for and wasn't required I didn't know that they had replaced it with a high def box until I got the bill which was an additional twenty dollars iirc. I called them and they told me that the installer made a mistake and that he would come out to swap the box but I had to be there which meant I would have to take a day out of work to wait for him or my other option was for me to bring the box to their office which is an hour away and pick up a new one AND I was also told that I would be charged the extra for the HD box until I returned it even though it was their fault! This is all on top of their other b.s. of constantly raising their prices and making you pay for channels you don't want because you can only get the channels you do want in a package. I could go on and on about comcast they really are the worst when it comes to customer service.

I looked up the boxes he installed and they're models from about seven or eight years ago. I don't know if I can kill this lying ass-clown and get the mess cleaned up before Rori gets home. I'm all out of Saran Wrap, and she'll be pissed if there's blood all over the house.

Yes, I have Xfinity/Comcast and no problems with them to report. The boxes I have were delivered new. They just recently hooked up a new flatscreen in the living room. The guy who did it was a contractor, not an employee.
He was driving a Comcast cable installer's truck and was wearing a Comcast uniform. He also called me from the local Comcast office this morning. And I'm being billed directly from Comcast, so this clown isn't getting any money from me for anything.
The guy is obviously a jerk-off, but I don't know if he's an official card carrying one.
After all the complaints I've made and all the venom I've spewed today online, over the phone, and by email, I will be surprised to see this idiot again. But I'll be sure ask to see his jerk-off card if I do.
