[QUOTE=PokS2k,Dec 9 2006, 06:43 AM] I think I'll pick up the Garmin 660 after Christmas.

[QUOTE=2006-S2K,Dec 7 2006, 08:17 PM] SSSsnakeSSS,

When I tune the Nuvi660 to my FM radio, I have to choose between listening to the Nuvi instructions or listening to a radio station on a different frequency.

We were thinking of September also. I think you can do the books, mp3s etc with the 660 but that wasn't uppermost in my mind - the big screen and traffic updates appealed.
May be ond of us could negotiate a bulk price in February or March or even later if that is the most advantageous time to buy one. After Christmas and before people starting travelling again, remember we are in the cold and snow!

Any advice on the hand helds for Kayaking, crosscountry sking etc.?

I just purchased the following:

Nuvi 660
GA 27C low profile antenna
2 GB SD memory card

I don't know that I need the 2 gig card but it was priced right.

Thanks for the link again Val. I'll post my impressions after I play with it awhile.

^I got the 2GB card too. It's better to have too much memory than not enough.

Especially now that my organic memory ain't what it used to be. The last trip we made to Destin made me very aware that places I used to remember but didn't frequent regularly are much harder to find after a while.

You're quite welcome, Raymo. I still think that store beats out everyone else on price. My unit arrived just when they said it would, etc. If the prices keep dropping on the things I may upgrade at some point.

We used our Garmin Nuvi last night to get to a dinner with a few S2000 folks. While we knew the general area we needed to head in, we set it for the address of the restaurant.

We were VERY happy with the GPS. It gives advance warning of turns, then tells you again when it is time to turn. There was one turn onto the highway, and then it said to exit right. We knew that was not the exit we wanted, but that was just the first notice of the exit. So now we know, it will tell us the next turn/exit coming up, then it will tell us again when we reach the turn/exit.

It is very We are going to love this thing for our SF07 trip to VA.

I don't do enough travel to justify spending more than $300, so I am leaning towards the C-330 that a couple of you recommend.

What if any attachments, x-tra memory card, etc. do you suggest?

Val, I'm puzzeled by big bold letters that appear on many of Garmin GPS listed at the site you linked. It reads WHITE BOX OEM IS A LIE. Are they acknowledging that they mislead customers earlier? Are they saying these are rebuilt units? Call me stupid but I don't get what they are saying? Any ideas?

And finally a general question about waiting until after Christmas... is there any evidence to support that the prices really will drop. I know I thought that would happen on some electronic items in the past only to get a big surprise - they actually stayed the same or went up. Sellers know that a lot of people have cash to spend after Christmas and with early tax refunds.
