Hobbies and Stuff
A hobby of mine has always been tinkering with cars in my garage. With the new Subaru BRZ coming home I couldn't resist changing over some fluids. I got the front of the car raised with low-rise ramps, and the rear of the car on jack-stands. It brings back so many memories of the S2000. The rear differential fluid is a very similar design to the S2000, easy dump and it takes a pump to fill, not too bad to fill by pump as it is about 1.3 quarts max. The transmission looks to be exactly the same as the S2000 tranny, I don't like pumping fluid into the tranny as it takes a few quarts, so I use a funnel in the engine bay and a clear hose down to the tranny fill hole. I'm not a fan of working under vehicles but my method makes it easy and safe.
Most people will realize the vehicle did not need fluid changes with only a couple hundred kilometers on it since I brought it home 3 weeks ago. I wanted a thicker synthetic differential fluid , many new cars these days are coming with thinner fluids, I put Redline 75w90 in the diff, the factory fluid is a 75w85 LX spec, hopefully giving an extra level of wear protection over the thinner factory fluid. For the transmission they simply use gear oil, but I always like to use a dedicated MTF in my manual trannies, not just plain gear oil. I put in Redline MT-LV manual tranny fluid , which meets the factory spec but is a dedicated MTF . It shifts like a dream, better than stock now.
Lots of fun tinkering with cars again.

Actually I did.
I also placed a shot glass between the shelves when I lined them up on the closet door to clean them. But in the end I made a number of changes .... like putting all the British sports cars on a separate shelf.

The one on the left was our gas serviceman's truck and the bucket truck on the right was our electric linesman truck. Spent 32 years with that company.

Swifter's are great in certain situations such as wall frames, picture frames, etc. and I use them all over the house. On small objects and glass shelves it's better than nothing. But I clean my models using q-tips and the like and nothing cleans glass like glass cleaner.
