Hobbies and Stuff
Music has been one of the most amazing things in my life. Met my wife on a gig years ago.

Helpful in business for that matter. Played for customers, prospective clients and my employers too.
This one was fun too but the Tokyo Groove thing is just next level...
Cool! where do you guys play? Me and my wife were on an APA league team with people I worked with when I lived in MN. It was fun, but we did 8 and 9 ball every friday so after a while it burned us out. After a few years of that we dropped off the leagues and my wife and I would just hit the pool hall every week for fun.
We have an 8 ft table at our house now that we finally got last winter so have been playing more again. Maybe we should spend an evening shooting after shop time here sometime. I have a feeling that @Tvotaw84 will be over here plenty in the upcoming months and we will be wrenching on his car
So will let you know when we are around!

So will let you know when we are around!I have always been much more into blues, metal, punk but always have loved a good groove and thus find jazz stuff that I really like. That is how I started seeing Tokyo Groove popping up on my YT feed a few years ago. I also really love Lews Coles drumming in his various projects. My first instrument was drums (have not played in years and play guitar these days) so I have a huge appreciation for drummers and bass. Was just listening to Juna Serita and her band cover Run for your Life by Marcus Miller last night! Posted a link to it in the Official Music Videos thread just now for you

Did you live in the KC area when you were younger and played drums? My uncle was the Professor of Percussion at Missouri Western for decades and taught lessons before that as well. I grew up around all my uncles that were musicians as their profession. I love all sorts of music. Also he, some of my other uncles and cousin did something called Sticks of Thunder that was a big percussion shows that combined singing and a few other instruments that played at Union Station for a few years back in the early 2000s.
I hit a cops brand new Camaro when I was 16, and it was his wifes fault (she was driving it) lol so I got an insurance check for damage to my big hoopty car, did not fix the minor damage and bought a drum set! My friends and I had a garage band in HS. I could not play at night due to neighbors so taught myself to play guitar. When I was 19 my kit was stolen and I could not afford another one so stuck to playing guitar. It was not until my son thought he was into drums that I bought another kit so I played some on his. I do want to get another one though now as I miss playing. Issue is, I barely make time to play guitar!
I finally figured out my primary hobby. I like designing stuff.
It's not always actually building things but figuring out how i would build them.
i've never quite got on the Raspberry Pi bandwagon, even though I have one still in the box.
One spin off though is the plethora of gizmos that belong in that ecosystem of "stuff".
and neat stuff it is.
example,
need a cute little 10m low power radar sensor?
but wait it will need 3.3v to run it. no problem.
I guess the fun part is figuring out the mounting of all of these little postage stamps.
My driveway goes uphill from the house and has 3 subtle curves before the main driveway portion.
It's really annoying to back out of, especially at night since it isn't well lit. It's doubly annoying if it's raining.
My thought is, Solar power to 12vdc supply, feeding a 12v LiFePO4 battery.
Hanging off the battery is the little 12vdc to 3.3VDC converter driving two radar sensors to provide 150 degrees of field of view.
In parallel alight sensor figures out if the lights are needed.
The radar detector outputs and (not (light detector)) feed an and function. which turns on a relay driving large LED lamps.
It's more efficient and more reliable to drive the driveway lights with 12v directly.
It bothers me that this market space is dominated by auto use lighting.
My lights will be statically mounted, whereas fog lamps and driving lights have to deal with severe vibration.
This drives cost up. It's also harder to get high lumen output lamps.
By contrast, the home lighting space has craploads of big wide angle lights for much cheaper but are 120VAC.
It's easy to throw in a inverter. It just feels, well... dirty and lazy.
There is a term called creeping elegance in the engineering world.
But this is just crying for some smarts, isn't it? should it have all kinds of sensing and wifi so I can check on it from wherever I am.
maybe throw in a camera to see what is in my driveway?
hmmmm....

Just picked up a new effects box that has an old school "chorus" effect that is similar to what he used back in that era>
Being a musical slut I play with a bunch of bands around town. One of them plays this MM tune. So funky.
Post detailing with q-tips, silver polish and microfiber towels.
