^ AJ, those are neat. How long does each one take?
Thanks, Bill. Each figure takes about 15-20 hours...mostly getting the shading and highlighting down. Because of all the beadwork, the mounted figure took longer. The base on the last one took about two weeks, an hour or so a night.

There's a monkey???

Dave, I'm very impressed with your art work. I envy those with the gift to draw and paint. I can hardly form a straight line with a ruler and a pencil.

Bill, how about some more pics of the Healey.
I just hate downloading to this site Jim. I wish I knew a faster way.

No there isn't Bill. I just had a hard time interpreting one of Dave's earlier works. Thankfully, he has a great sense of humor.

It was the painting on the top. I painted it "loose", so loose Lainey thought it was a monkey..... So I did another a little "tighter one with more detail".

I painted these two about a month ago; first time back with the brushes in several years.

I told everyone when I retired I'd be painting all the time - I lied. I keep promising myself to do more. I even have neighbors who stop me on the road when I'm walking the dog and say things like, "It's raining today, you should be painting!" I can't really say why I keep putting it off. I more or less did the same thing with model cars, I was constantly working on one and then one day - in the middle of doing a metal kit for a Lotus Elan - I put the stuff aside and never finished it or all the others I'd collected.

PS - thanks for compliments; the barn is my favorite too. I did that 21 years ago!! Told you it's been a while.

Patty, do you have to solder the metal/zinc framework on those pieces?
I will solder the four corners of the frame to each other and then, where ever the frame touches a soldered glass joint, I will solder the frame to the joint. It will make the glass more connected to the frame and then when it's hung it will be more intact.

Patty, great work!

I don't have any digital pics in my computer -- too many computer crashes on too many computers. I'll try to dig out a snapshot of my favorite piece and see if I can take a picture of a picture. It was a fairly large (as I recall maybe about 30" x 50") piece I designed and did for a friend in Houston who had a restaurant. If I can't do that, I'll go by the restaurant on my next trip to Houston and try to take a photo since he had it installed as a window. He has since passed away, but I'm pretty sure the piece is still there.

My second favorite piece was a really large (3' x 5') of two pink flamingoes in front of a giant red sun with palm trees on the sides. Unfortunately, I had loaned it to the same friend who had it hanging in his last restaurant when the restaurant burned. The piece melted in the fire.
Thank you Martha. Are your stained glass projects lead instead of copper foil? I have not learned how to make those yet. I would like to learn how so I can make windows too.

I hope some of your artistic gifts rub off on me since you've allowed me to hang out with you guys and gals. What a diverse group of gifts and hobbies!! There's not an artsy fartsy bone in my body, although I do have a really cute two year old son if that counts?? I even tried staying at a Holiday Inn and that didn't help with any inspiration. I am really impressed with your works. I hope you will share more in the future.

I am blessed with a beautiful wife that has all the artistic genes in our family. I do dabble in photography and have a great collection of car pics. However, I am an anal retentive engineer with no artistic gifts. I enjoy restoring cars and anything mechancial. I collect die cast cars and real cars. I enjoy several of the shooting sports and compete locally. I have a small hobby farm and enjoy maintaining it and using my equipment. My wife and I enjoy travelling with Cody and shooting different parts of the country. She does portraits and landscape, I do wildlife and cars. Cody is probably the most photographed child in history. I am soon to be a grandfather after Thanksgiving which will open up a completely new hobby for me.

Thanks for letting me join you.

Mike
