The Hobby thread
That barn painting is wonderful, Dave. I'm afraid I don't really have any hobbies - maybe renovating and decorating houses?
I do love to travel. The +1 is the artistically talented member of the family. I need to take a pic of the finished horse painting he did for his daughter. Now working on a Rutgers football painting for his son, and another Impressionist painting I picked out called Sunset on the Oise, by Charles-Francois Daubigny.

I am soon to be a grandfather after Thanksgiving which will open up a completely new hobby for me.
Nice to see you posting here. See you at Spring Fling!

Thank you Martha. Are your stained glass projects lead instead of copper foil? I have not learned how to make those yet. I would like to learn how so I can make windows too.
On the larger pieces where they did need some reinforcement for strength (I've been told anything more by 2' x 3' does but not sure if that's the right break-point or not), I've used the relatively thin flat copper "bars" as either cross pieces or however they had to go around the pattern, which also adds strength. You just solder them between the pieces of glass in as straight a line as your pattern allows and it really doesn't show. I've seen people solder a small bar or round bar from edge to edge on the back sides of pieces, but I think that distracts from the piece, but that's personal preference.
^Oh, that's how you do it.
As a teenager, I didn't have the money or knowhow to make stained glass projects so I would take a large piece of black construction paper and then pencil a design on it. I would use a fine swivel head e-xacto knife to cut out the holes. I'd buy a nice color assortment of tissue paper and then cut double pieces to glue onto the back of the black paper. They came out pretty neat and I just used scissors, and glue.

I have been a HO Slot Car collector since I was in grade school. We use to race at different friends tracks around the neighborhood
