The hummingbird thread
I've noticed a downturn in the hummingbird wars here as well. I still have several coming around and I enjoy particularly watching two of them go off to do battle and a third one sneaks in for a feast.

The hummingbirds are smarter than I am.

I could not do the winters experienced anywhere even 5 miles north of me. I even hate the abbreviated winters we have.

I just refilled my two feeders. I've had no shortage here, and quite often have four or sometimes five sitting at once. Of course, my winters are a joke. I love winter, here.
BTW, what does everyone use for nectar? I mix four cups of water with one cup of sugar (4 to 1) for each feeder. And contrary to what Plant Pixie tells me, I put red food coloring in too, just because I like the color.

I still have several and guess I'm going to have to boil sugar water at least one more time.
Here's an interesting state by state breakdown of types of hummers and when they arrive/depart:
Hummingbird Migration
I use 4 pts water to 1 pt sugar and boil for 3 or 4 minutes. Don't use food coloring but have a red feeder.

I don't even know if I have any sugar in the house.
