I started back walking yesterday. Just finished my second walk today - but since it started snowing I did a 20 minute walk in the house. I'd like to do 20-30 minutes every day since I truly believe that is the best exercise anyone can do at any age. I've really become a couch potato since my dog died; not good. Hopefully I will loose some pounds as well.

Uhoh...my hair stylist brought back some baklava from Lebanon. And I caved in and ordered some dark chocolate dried cherries. At least they are dark chocolate.

I had my annual Medicare physical on Tuesday, at the urging of my family doctor. The PA who examined me highly recommended that I go on a low carb diet, as those of you have seen me in the last few years know that I really could lose more than a few pounds and inches. So, I began my weight loss quest for real yesterday. I've heard that the results of such diets, when strictly adhered to, are quite remarkable. We shall see. One plus, I found out that gin martinis have 0 carbs, so I can still have my daily happy hours!
The really tough part is I have to give up pasta, bread, chips, etc. High fat foods are allowed, though.

^ Yep, that's what it takes. And of course those are all things that we love.

I'm cooking the farro right now in the rice cooker for dinner. I'll let you know how it turns out. It's a healthier alternative to rice.
