I already had 4 cars - one for each of our driving requirements (long distance, daily, hauling and pleasure). I bought the S2000 for my wife, fully knowing she would rarely ever drive it. I was right.

I was also going to comment on our state of affluence (sorry, Lainey )....but will refrain from hijacking your thread, Rob
Jerry,

Why don't you start a new thread about that?

I definately agree. I have had people ask me why I bought a car that I can't drive in the winter where I live and my reply to them has been if you have to ask you just don't understand.

That is a statement that I am very familiar with from my motorcycle industry days about the joys of riding a motorcycle.

If I have to explain it too you, you would not understand? ;-)

Matt,

I can think of so many bigger reasons that the rest of the world hates us. If owning the S has anything to do with it, its only the tip of the iceberg.

I meant this to be a fun thread, I don't want it to get political.
Rob,

I did not mean that to be political. I am sorry

I meant it in the light that in most countries of the world people do not have the luxury of owning even one car. Let along a "Garage Queen" that is one's third or fourth car.

I am very thankful that my Grandparents got on the boat.

But the luckiest people of all are those who buy cars just for the fun of it. We are those people. Our S isn't practical, or economical. It's reliable, but there are other cars that shout image louder and certainly there are other cars the bring more prestiege, but no car on the road is as much fun to drive and to own as our S2000. You don't measure it in miles per gallon, you measure it in smiles per gallon. And today when smiles are so hard to come by, all we need to do is to push the start button.
When we were looking for a fun vehicle we were debating on looking for some antique to be driven only in nice weather, or a modern sports car. I'm so glad the sports car won out.

I did exactly the same thing. It was the S or an MG-TD. I'm glad the S won out.
