Something told me to check; this is the only one I have. I was pointing to his ring I'd just kissed. Gave him the biggest laugh.

Bruce's passing bothered me alot... not knowing he was sick and not saying anything as a goodbye. Maybe people don't want to share that type of thing with people they only know online.

But I am still sad I did not get the chance to say good bye to him or Bob, or even know they were ill to the point I should or could have even just said, "I am hoping for the best for you"

I have so few family members that alot of people around here tend to make up my family and any loss to that group is very sad.

Ellen his passing has bothered me too. He left this earth way too soon. We felt pretty close to Bruce. His first meet was at our home, and we liked him immediately, and I know he felt comfortable with the New England crowd.

I knew he was sick, but he kept things private. When some folks are sick, they are more forthcoming about what is going on. Bob/SSSnakeSSS was one of those who told folks what was going on. Others need to deal with their illness privately. That was how Bruce felt, and we who spent more time with him than some others had, somewhat knew what was going on, but we respected his privacy.

From what I know of him, even though he was ill, I don't think he ever would have wanted anyone to feel the need to say goodbye, as I'm sure he was hoping he would be around for a long time. If it helps, his partner Ira, said Bruce would not have wanted people to mourn and based on that, while I'm sad he is gone, I'm happy that I had the chance to meet and spend time with such a great guy.

I'm hoping the tears will be few at the "celebration of his life" as I'm pretty sure that's the way he would want it to be.

Don't be sad. Be happy that you had a chance to meet him. I'd bet money that that is what he would want.

I have sent this to people I know when they have lost loved ones in the past.

"Death is that state in which one lives in the memory of others, that is why it is not an end.........

May your memories be but a new begining for them as well as for you."

I have found great comfort in these words and actually have carried them with me for almost 15 years now.

Ellen,
Please don't be resentful of Bruce, I am sure he had his reasons.
I'm guessing first and foremost is he didn't want to be a burden on anyone. I think he believed in giving not taking.
My belief is we need to enjoy today and treat each encounter as though it were our last.
An illness may give us the opportunity to gently say goodbye but accidents or heart attack can't take our loved ones in a moment.
I am not saying that we should live in fear but rejoice in the company of our friends and loved ones on a daily basis.

Thanks for the quote Jim, I like that.

Bruce's obituary

A charity is mentioned should you wish to donate.

My deepest sympathy. He seemed like a really good guy.
