As to the Congratulations and Best Wishes...It always disturbed me slightly. It's like saying "Nice catch, you really reached on this one" to the groom and "Good luck with that one" to the bride.

... as one who has enjoyed and endured and persevered almost 40 years of marriage to the same ever changing woman, I have enjoyed the journey through all the joys and tears and would not trade my married life for anything. Congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy life together.
