I have no intentions of putting personal private information on it, so that’s not an issue. The newest OS it will accept is dated 2018 with High Sierra 10.13.6.

Since my original hard drive crashed, it had to be replaced. Using Disk Utility I was able to erase all the data on that drive before removing it. I then took a hammer to it! There is a U-tube video on how to replace the drive with an original replacement for $99. Which I considered.

Then a retired computer engineer offered to do the replacement with upgrades. He installed a 500GB solid state drive and beefed up the memory from 4GB to 12GB. $137 in parts. Thereby saving a eleven year old $2k computer from its final days in the scrapyard. And it is faster than ever.
The new Mac has everything soldered in at board level. No more of that adding memory or hard drive unless you are proficient at soldering and have nerves of steel!

Yeah, you are referring to the Mac mini . . . that's why I bought extra memory over the base level to start with.

Since my LG monitor does not have a camera I bought a video webcam to do FaceTime on it. Amazing 1080 clarity and only $23.

When Covid hit, I tried to get a video camera for my monitor. Nope, nothing out there. Everyone was zooming then! I didn't pursue it as I have a camera on my laptop. It's just OK, but I can't even remember the last time I used it.

Since the laptop camera's are often poor quality many people buy a webcam for them from what I've read.

Yep, the camera on the previous laptop was bad. Current lap top, a tad better. Either way so rarely used, I didn't bother looking around.
