PS if anyone tries this winter art thing, I heard today, that the ice may be clearer if you boil the water first. I just used tap water.

Lainey, your flowers remind me of something I did at Kennedy Meadows in the cold. I want to do it again, with different colored food coloring, here in Colorado. Fill up balloons with water and let them freeze outside. When you remove the balloons you have interesting ice blobs.

Oh I've heard of that too...Hmmm I have a three day weekend...if it wasn't so cold out, I'd go to the party store...

One the news tonight, one woman made a bubble and added something to the mix, so it looked like a snowflake was growing on the bubble....very cool. Another showed how a bubble would pretty much shatter like glass, not long after being exposed to the cold.

Damn it's cold out....

Lainey- The water dishes are very cool.

I finally got around to sorting through our Acadia/Boston trip. Here's the link: Enjoy. https://flic.kr/s/aHsm8xkXUC

Most of the long exposures came out crappy because of the broken ballhead on the tripod (since fixed!)

Have a safe and happy New Year's everyone!

Nice, Gary! Thanks for sharing your link. You saw an eagle! How cool. And was that Bass Harbor Head light? Were you on a boat tour for that shot?

Sorry you didn't have better weather. You got some good shots, in spite of the weather, but it is such a pretty place on a sunny day.

TY and yes, the Bass Harbor Lighthouse.

We saw about 10 Eagles on the boat ride. Unfortunately for us, but fortunate for the Eagles, the boats don't get too close. Many of the other shots are just the Eagles in the tall trees overlooking the water... waiting. Even with a 200mm zoom, the pictures are just very far away.

btw: On the flicker feed, there should be captions for the pictures to help identify them.

My nephew graduated from HS and the family is headed to a Caribbean cruise. echhhhh! I didn't enjoy the last Caribbean cruise (14 years ago), but loved Alaska. So it's not cruising I'm against, just the locale.

This one stops in Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Labadi (owned by the RC line) and one other island - maybe Jamaica or Bermuda. I'm looking forward to PR and Old San Juan plus St. Maarten. Labadi I could do without as the other one.

We'll also do a long weekend for Cindy's surgery anniversary and our anniversary. We may look for a timeshare elsewhere to just get away, but nothing firm yet. Not going away for a week in October or November for the 1st time in many years will be very weird.
