Sue - In case you are reading this, what has happened with your bath remodeling project?

That's a tough pill to swallow. Are you stuck with the bill for this ?

Sorry to hear Deb. The existing shower is very nice.

Thanks for asking, Deb.

First of all, I am so sorry to hear of all of the troubles because of the pipe replacement project. That would be very upsetting to see everything torn out and have to be replaced! Do you have to go down to the studs again?

Our hall bath is basically finished and we have been using it for several weeks now. And, I love it! The only thing that still needs to be done in there is to put in another grab bar in the tub.

The master bathroom is nearing completion, probably by the end of this coming week or maybe the following week. Tomorrow, the electricians will be putting in a new outlet on the linen tower, and I think installing the vanity lights and maybe the fan/heater in the ceiling. After that, we still need the shower doors and grab bars put in.

It has been a long project, but it is almost finished and will be well worth the wait.

The next project is to totally redo the kitchen, including an entirely new layout, probably doing away with the dinette eating space and half wall between the eating space and family room to open up the whole area and have more of a great room concept. The designer will be coming on Friday to do measurements. Then, we will probably have several months of planning, choosing things, etc, and hopefully the work will begin in spring or summer.

When is spring supposed to arrive here in Central Ohio???

Down to the studs in the shower area only. And the bath floor will be replaced.

Wow, no recourse at all, from insurance company or elsewhere? That's a huge expense. What about the actual pipe work, is that something for which the condo will charge some kind of assessment?

Folks purchasing a condo need to be aware that these kind of expenses can creep up. My sister in VA is thinking of relocating to SC when my brother in law retires, and they were thinking of a condo purchase, they will need to do some homework.

Edit: Never mind my question...I looked back and saw that insurance company would not pay. Bummer!

Right...I'm paying an assessment for the pipe work itself. Redoing the bath is additional. So a pretty large outlay for both.

I am keeping this thread for pipe replacement updates. I have started a new thread for the guest bath tile removal/replacement project. Here is the link:

As of right now, pipe work will start Feb 20 and be done (after inspections and drywall replacement) on Mar 2. Then all the tile replacement work has to be done and some painting. Could be three/four weeks until we have the guest bath back. The bath remodel alone took six weeks last time, but I hope it will be faster this time around. TBD...
