As you can see, we made a few changes along the way, most notably adding the deck and 3-season porch.

The question is, do I crush the model or stick it back in the attic?
Hahaha....you should have become an architect and earned a lot more money over your working years....................................NOT

After being in FL for the month of Feb, I have enjoyed reading this thread and having FLASH BACKS to 2015 when we were in the HEAT of de-cluttering in prep for our downsizing move to the condo in Feb 2016!

Going from our 3 story + basement home of 40+ years to a 1 level condo was a challenge. We actually did it so well that we have empty shelves here and there! The condo does have a 10x12 finished interior storage room, which has one wall of IKEA shelving for file and tote boxes; that room (along with a garage at our cottage) saved our butts.

On Friday night and Saturday I labored through several decades of old hardware that I have collected over the years. This was poorly organized mix of old, used stock and brand new still-in-the-boxes stuff: nails, wood screws, sheet metal screws, machine threaded screws and cap screws (bolts) and the accompanying washer and nuts. I threw out about three shopping bags full of containers that i eliminated and hardware that was really unusable, so that was good. I used opaque plastic fishing tackle boxes from Bass Pro Shop (5 for $10 on sale) as well as my three existing mini drawer cabinets to organize all of it. Now I have about 15 old glass jars I need to get rid of as well, but I like to keep a few around as they make great receptacles for brake fluid when I bleed the brakes and also serve as mini parts cleaners when I want to clean off something small with some mineral spirits. I'll probably keep four or five of them and throw out the rest in recycling and that will be another bag's worth of stuff I'll be getting rid of.

I had a harder time going through the door hardware. I have a sizable box of hinges, door knobs, door locks, striker plates, door stops and cabinet handles and pulls. I condensed it down and tossed out some really old stuff I know I will never use and then kept more than I should have. I don't think it would have much mattered if i threw out the whole box. I'll need to keep picking away at this stuff.

Last night I moved onto my boxes of electrical and wiring stuff. I am throwing away many old TV cables and some outdated "electronic" stuff like a cable TV signal booster from Radio Shack. I really need to dump some of the older electrical fixtures I keep around for no apparent reason. I repacked after dumping some obvious junk, but I should probably open the box back up and start over again.

Between the door hardware, electrical and electronic stuff I dumper another couple of bags of stuff Sunday and Monday night. Next, I'll move onto the boxes of plumbing supplies.

Emil, as a lowly engineer, I seriously doubt I out-earned Jerry!

We finally convinced our next door neighbor to join us into disposing of the junk in our adjoining back yards (more like shamed him) Anyway, we managed to fill up an entire dump truck with all the crap we have accumulated in the last 18 years, including from our basement and garage attic. Much more to go, unfortunately, but it’s a start.

I have to take quite a bit of stuff out of part of the master closet next week for pipe work, so I'm using the opportunity to weed out things before putting it all back.

I've loaded up two big garbage bags with clothes for the Vietnam Veterans. It made a small dent in my wardrobe. I need to do this two or three more times. I also have a child's chair to give them. I sold four rods and reels. I have adds coming up in the local Healey newsletter to try to get rid of some old parts for both 3000 and Sprites. I need to post and add for some BMW 330i parts. I'm looking for someone to take away an old junk refrigerator this week as well.

I brought a spinning coffee table down the Cape to use as a tackle station. It has storage on all four sides and tackle boxes fit in the spaces quite well. I've also been throwing old car magazines into recycling. All that and I haven't really made a dent.

We have donated quite a bit to ReStore

A very worthy cause.

We have a store called Savers that is a good bit closer. We brought them several items a few weeks ago, but I can't recall what it was.
