Default Problem with conv top latch

On July 6th, the drivers side convertible latch assembly failed. The little plastic part that holds the latch in the closed position broke. I replaced the entire latch assembly (~$162) and went on about my business. Now, on July 11th, the passengers side latch has failed! Coincidence? Gremlins? Fate? Any guesses out there?

If you are still under warranty it should be covered.

I had the latches replaced on my '00 under a TSB....but I'm not sure what years were included. In any event, an in-effect warranty should cover this failure....w/o question!

My passenger side failed on my '02 about 2 months ago. Same little plastic piece. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them, now I feel better hearing your story.
My car was 1 month out of warranty but the Honda dealer made a call and got it covered under warranty but only because my mileage was very low for a 3 year old car. The price they gave me was 100.00 per latch.

Speaking of latches........One month after that the drivers side latch tore my top when it was closing. It just caught the folded fabric and tore it. I actually saw it happen and there was nothing I could do. I just sat there and thought to mself "I can't believe that just happened."

My honda dealer replaced my plastic latches with metal ones a couple of years back on a tsb at no charge (mine's an 01) and it was under the original warranty. I've since purchased a 100k warranty, but so far no probs with the replacement latches.
